Join in the fun of the Rugby, Haka, Hāngī Festival at the Clive Rugby Club in Hastings, Hawke's Bay as the locals treat visitors to a friendly game of rugby, lessons in how to do the haka and some traditional Māori food.

This will be a wonderful chance to meet and interact with local rugby fans and to learn about the real people at the grassroots of rugby in New Zealand.

Come take us on!
Clive Rugby Club is the home of New Zealand's oldest rugby pitch. We are proud to welcome players, teams and supporters from around the world to take part in an unforgettable experience both on and off the pitch in this festival of friendship in Clive, an historic village nestled minutes away from Napier and Hastings.

rugbytournament
We'll organise rugby matches against our local club teams suitable for all skill levels. There's workshops from the basics through to individual player and coaching tips.

Maori culture
Everyone will join in tribal canoe races at Farndon Park, we'll teach you a haka (Māori war dance) then help prepare a traditional hangi (food cooked in the ground in a traditional Māori way) in preparation for the celebratory dinner afterwards.

Festival & entertainment
The whole village will gather for this friendly get together and you'll experience first hand the best of local entertainment, food fare and hospitality in this wonderful community festival. Entertainment will include New Zealand champions in marching and aerobatics and overseas performers from France, Tahiti and Canada.

The event will be the second Rugby, Haka, Hāngī Festival in a series of events hosted by five Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa towns in the Ngāti Kahungunu Rohe (tribal area).
