The NZ Wood Design September seminar series offers the opportunity to learn first-hand from leading international engineering and architectural practitioners of the latest multi-storey timber engineering and design technologies and projects.

Key international speakers:

- Dr Paolo Lavisci, Structural engineer from Legnopiὺ consultancy in Prato, Italy
Paolo was a participant in the rebuild of L’Aquila after the earthquake in 2009 and consultant for four eight-storey wooden tower blocks to be built in Milan this year.

- Andrew Waugh, Waugh Thistleton Architects in the UK
Andrew is from the architecture firm who designed the world’s current tallest wooden residential building – the nine-storey Stadthaus in Murray Grove, London.

Guest speakers:

- Robert Finch, Structural Timber Innovation Company (STIC)
This Christchurch seminar also includes guest speaker Robert Finch who will be presenting damage avoidance designs for multi-storey timber buildings.

- Team Member, NZ Wood 48-hour Design Challenge team
The key highlights of the supreme-award winning design in the 48-hour design challenge will be discussed by a member of the team. The Christchurch City Council run-competition was aimed at generating innovative design concepts for the Christchurch City Centre, and the team presented their impressive design - utilising the strengths of their key building material – wood.
