About: started on drums at age 8, Pete picked up guitar at around 18 and has been on and off since then. Got into recording pretty soon starting an a 4 track and eventually ending up on protools on a Mac.

Playing under "Extra Curricular Activity" band name.

I grew up on Kiss, ACDC, Police and listening to pop songs on the radio along with friends who were into punk and of course U2, David Bowie and Neil Young, this is back in '70-'80s so I got exposed to all sorts of styles and genre.

My mum says she noticed me picking kindling out of the box and matching them by weight to drum on the bottom of the box, so my parents bought me a drum kit. It was a Maxwell, blue pearl. Pretty cool thing for parents to do.

So I was a natural and really enjoyed it eventually getting my own better kit and some nice cymbals and playing in a few local bands in Rangiora (Sth Island).

We all went to church back then so I started playing every Sunday, I had a blast. Can't guarantee what it sounded like but at least I wasn't too loud for them.

Fast forward to 18, I had left home and ended up in Hamilton on the dole and played drums 8 hours a day, must have driven the neighbours crazy.

A mate Warren in the band I was in (11:59) showed me some chords on guitar and I started trying to sing.

Fast forward again to Rotorua '94 and I started Vertigo as a duo with Lesley (my wife) by recording all the backing on a 4 track. Drummed the songs first then added bass and we got got heaps of gigs in Rotovegas like Novotel bar and the Lakeland Queen paddle boat and quite a few bars as well as some big end of year type outdoor gigs.

I'd also taken up sound engineering and as I had been recording my backing I was captivated with the whole recording process. I did a few sessions here and there on drums and generally aspired to record my own material that I was writing on a regular basis.

Fast forward again to Auckland present day and I'm still gigging in Vertigo (now as a 4 piece) as well a a side project called "Extra Curricular Activity". I still record all the backing drums and bass for it and I'm still going hard recording my own songs and I just love being a muso.
