Visit our incredible Pacific Lifeways gallery to experience the arts of this culture first-hand with the Waitakere Pacific Arts & Cultural Centre supported by the Pasifika Festival team and Pasifika Festival Villages Charitable Trust. The gallery itself is home to over 1200 artefacts and explores the period of first contact between Pacific Island communities and European explorers. Artefacts in Pacific Lifeways come from across the Pacific – Tonga, Fiji, Samoa, Kiribati, Niue, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.

Learn the art of sustainable weaving using recycled materials using natural and made-made resources that capture the essence of traditional and contemporary weaving. Experience the art of lei-making, and how lei-making has changed over the years. Learn more about Tivaevae – the traditional quilt of Cook Islands – and the creative process of designs and inspirations.
