Richard Grainger is a singer songwriter steeped in the Northumbrian and English Folk traditions. His solo career started in 1984 with the release of his first Album on Fellside records titled Herbs on the Heart produced by Paul Adams. The album deservedly received great critical acclaim, putting him up there with folk legendaries such as Martin Carthy and Nic Jones. Today after a quarter of a century as a professional he is acknowledged as one of the finest exponents of folk song in the UK.
