Puspawarna Gamelan present a fabulous night of Indonesian music and shadow puppets! Come and experience an exciting story told in English and accompanied by Central Javanese percussion. A fun family event, suitable for all ages: bring a floor cushion for the little ones.
This concert is held in a relaxed 'Indonesian style' so you are welcome to come and go and wander as you please. You can even walk behind the puppeteer's screen to watch the gamelan musicians at work.
Bang! Clash! Audience members are invited to have a play on the instruments after the concert.
Featuring:
*Dr Joko Susilo, an eighth-generation dhalang (shadow puppeteer master) www.gamelan.org/jokosusilo/index.html
*special guest Budi Putra on kendhang (drums), courtesy of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia
*Puspawarna Gamelan: Dunedin's community gamelan performers
