Eventing Auckland is holding New Zealand’s premiere international FEI CCI Three Day Equestrian Event at Puhinui Reserve in Manukau on the 9th, 10th and 11th of December 2011, in association with Auckland Council.
The CCI (Concourse Compete Internationale) classes are international rankings attributed to courses of a set degree of difficulty. The highest class at the Puhinui Horse Trials is a Three-Star (CCI***) event. The CCI*** is an international standard, with only Badminton, Burghley, Adelaide, Kentucky, the Olympics and the World Equestrian Games (held every four years) ranking as Four-Star.
The event comprises of the three eventing disciplines - dressage on Friday, cross country on Saturday and showjumping on Sunday.
Held at the beautiful Puhinui Reserve, overlooking the Manukau Harbour, the event now hosts a cross section of classes - that allows everyone, from the novice to the full professional, to test their abilities and, of course, those of their horses.
With the current resurgence of the New Zealand riders on the international stage, following on from the success at the World Equestrian Games at Kentucky, New Zealand is looking forward to fielding a very strong team for the 2012 Olympics in London.
We know this will encourage aspiring New Zealand based riders to develop their skills at the Puhinui Reserve, with the view to them one day competing for New Zealand. Eventing Auckland sees itself playing a pivotal role in the ongoing success of equestrian riders both locally and internationally.
Our December Event is the ultimate finale to the spring horse trials season and we aim to showcase the talent of the finest equestrian riders in the country including Donna Smith (3* rider and current leader of the Super League Series).
We are also excited to include New Zealanders competing internationally, preparing for selection in the Olympic 2012 New Zealand team. These include Clarke Johnstone (winner of the 2011 Eventing World Cup series, WEG 2010 bronze medal team winner), Jonathan Paget (WEG 2010 medalist, Burghley 4* 2011 5th & 12th) and Lizzie Brown. There are others we are waiting confirmation on.
This event has FREE ENTRY & PARKING for all. It is a fantastic event for viewing for all disciplines - enjoy the precision of the dressage, get up close to enormous cross-country jumps and hold your breath for the showjumping.
There will be food and trade stalls - so come with the whole family - and enjoy a day in the country.
