"Her voice is a superb mix of China cup fragility and steely resilience" - The Irish Times.
Pauline Scanlon has been touring internationally since 2001, when she joined the Sharon Shannon Band as a featured vocalist, recording alongside Sinead O'Connor and the late Kirsty MacColl.
In 2004 she began a solo career that has seen her perform at many of the world's leading festivals and venues, such as Glastonbury, The Newport Folk Festival (US), The Edmonton Folk Festival, The Byron Bay Blues Festival, Dublin's National Concert Hall, The Sydney Opera House and the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall.
She has recorded three solo albums and performed with household names such as James Taylor, Belinda Carlisle and Shane McGowan (The Pogues). In 2009 she was signed by Sony Records.
Pauline brings with her on this New Zealand tour several of Ireland's most respected musicians: Donogh Hennessy (guitar) was a founding member and driving force behind the seminal Irish folk group, Lunasa. In more recent times, he has forged a highly successful career as a session musician, writer and producer. Damien Mullane (button accordion) is a virtuoso performer, twice having won the prestigious All Ireland award for accordion playing. He has also achieved wide recognition performing with the legendary Frankie Gavin. Andrew Laking (double bass), is a co-founder, composer and arranger with the acclaimed band Gráda.
