Glenys Brookbank’s intriguing and timeless new works create a refreshingly dignified spring show at nkb Gallery. Each painting provoking the viewer to contemplate it’s masterful intricacies with careful and deliberate thoughtfulness.
Auckland born, Gelnys Brookbanks was a primary school teacher before attending Elam School of Fine Art, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art in 1988. Brookbank’s reputation as a painter has evolved consistently since that time, with her work now held in public and private collections throughout New Zealand, and her participation in numerous group and solo shows nationally.
In this current exhibition Glenys Brookbanks offers us abstract paintings alongside her renowned landscapes, revisiting past themes as well as introducing new, internalized views and experiences. Working with water-based oil paint on board, the artist has created multi-layered, precise paintings that cannot fail to impress. Each cementing her reputation as an award-winning artist, who deserves the serious recognition she has received in recent times.
