Take a guided walk through the native botanic gardens and forest remnants at Otari-Wilton's Bush. Learn about the work at the gardens, native plants and pest plants.
Programme:
10.00am: Native plants for sale on the Cockayne Lawn
11.00am: Otari Treasure Trail with Dr John Dawson. Join the renowned botanist and author for a walk through the native botanic gardens.
12.00 noon: Gardening at Otari. A walk with the Otari curators looking at how we care for the gardens.
1.00pm: Bush walk to 800-year-old rimu and beyond. Visit the oldest tree in Wellington City. Some steps, steep in places. Good footwear required.
2.00pm. The nature trail. A fantastic one-hour guided walk through the native botanic garden and forest remnants. Some steps, steep in places. Good footwear required.
All day: Pest plant identification. Experts from Greater Wellington Regional Council will be on hand to show you the best ways to control a range of Wellington weeds.
All guided walks start at the Information Centre.
Refreshments available all day.
