One of Auckland’s longest-running community festivals, the Kowhai Festival features three weeks of exciting events in the beautiful Warkworth district. From Puhoi to Matakana, the Kowhai Festival turns up the entertainment for all ages.
Whether you’re a foodie, music buff, bargain hunter or adrenalin junkie, the Kowhai Festival has something to tickle your fancy.
From the Children’s Dog Show and Family Picnic, to the wet and wild Mahurangi River Raft Race, to the class act of the Festival Dance, the three week celebration is packed with awesome events.
The Kowhai Festival turns 42 this year and proves that good things get better with age. The highlight is the Huge Day Out on October 15, when Warkworth turns on the music, food and wine. Stalls line the streets and there’s a carnival atmosphere that extends into the night. Kiwi jazz legend Nathan Haines will play an evening concert at the Warkworth wharf before the fans settle down to watch the semi-final match on the outdoor screen.
