Pauline Scanlon has been touring internationally since 2001, when she joined the Sharon Shannon Band as a featured vocalist, recording alongside Sinead O’Connor and the late Kirsty MacColl.
In 2004, she began a solo career that has seen her perform at many of the world’s leading festivals and venues, including Glastonbury, The Newport Folk Festival, The Edmonton Folk Festival, The Byron Bay Blues Festival, Dublin’s National Concert Hall, The Sydney Opera House and the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall. She has recorded three solo albums and performed with many big name artists, including James Taylor, Belinda Carlisle and Shane McGowan of The Pogues.
On this New Zealand tour Pauline brings with her several of Ireland’s most respected musicians: Donogh Hennessy was a founding member of the Irish folk group Lunasa. Tola Custy began touring in 1994 with the band Calico. Andrew Laking is a co-founder and key composer and arranger with the acclaimed band Gráda.
Hear local musician Marc Steyn at the Granary Festival Cafe from 4.30pm, no charge.
