Three very distinctive new plays have been selected for Auckland Theatre Company's festival of new work The Next Stage. The annual work-in-progress public season will be held this year in the new ATC home base in Dominion Road.

The workshop process has produced some of the most exciting theatre premieres Auckland audiences have enjoyed over the last few years. Arthur Meek's On the Upside-down of The World, currently on a national tour, Dave Armstrong's hit Le Sud, Dave's adaptation of Sia Figiel's novel Where We Once Belonged and Geoff Chapple's Hatch have all been developed through TNS with Auckland premiere productions presented by ATC.

- Play 1: Black Confetti by Eli Kent, directed by Colin McColl.
Dates: Fri 7 Oct (8pm) & Sat 8 Oct (5pm)
Quarter-life crisis stuff from the prize-winning author of The Intricate Art of Actually Caring and Thinning. We'll be plenty messy by the time we're done.

- Play 2: At the Wake by Victor Rodger, directed by Roy Ward.
Dates: Sat 8 Oct (2pm) & Sun 9 Oct (3.30pm)
Old wounds are opened when afakasi Robert, his palagi grandmother and his estranged Samoan father meet for the first time over a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue at the wake of Robert's mum.

- Play 3: Pitcairn by Christina Stachurski, directed by Sara Brodie.
Dates: Sat 8 Oct (8pm) & Sun 9 Oct (1pm)
South Seas paradise or hell on earth?

Tickets are strictly limited to The Next Stage. A limited number of tickets are available to the public to attend on a first come first serve basis. To book call Auckland Theatre Company on 309 3395.
