Prepare yourselves for a festive treat - the tea trolley is polished, cameo crèmes are on the cake stand and the sherry glasses are ready.
Silent Night is an intimate solo show, written and performed by Yvette Parsons, which follows the character Irene McNunn as she prepares for her guests to arrive on Christmas Day. Irene entertains audiences with her unusual and innovative cooking and festive decorating techniques, which she interweaves with funny and emotive stories of her life so far.
Plenty of laughs and bitter-sweet humour promise to entertain audiences in this story of loss, loneliness and survival, set against a remarkable backdrop of kitsch memorabilia.
"Yvette Parsons delivers a tour-de-force performance as poignant as it is parodic... within seconds of her entrance Parsons has the crowd howling with laughter...Silent Night is a phenomenal play.” - John Smythe, Theatreview
Yvette Parsons - writer and performer;
Stephen Papps - director;
Yvette Parsons - set design.
Presented by the Central North Island Consortium. Funding from Creative New Zealand.
