The show must go on!

50s Up Brass Band and Suzanne Prentice perform together in October in a spectacular brass variety concert.

The annual brass band concert normally held at the Christchurch Town Hall was cancelled earlier this year due to the February earthquake.

John Nimmo, Concert Manager, couldn’t be happier. We are so pleased that we can continue our 17 year tradition and bring this concert to the community of Christchurch. After such a traumatic year, this afternoon of music and laughter is just what people need. It’s a chance to forget about their worries and enjoy themselves and catch up with old friends.

The afternoon concert is a fund raiser for Arthritis New Zealand. Along with the band it will also feature the New Zealand’s Country and Western Queen, Suzanne Prentice, Matthew Harris and Musical Director Les France LTCL.

“It’s traditionally been aimed at seniors and we have a very loyal audience. This year with Suzanne Prentice at the show we hope to attract a new country loving audience who enjoy daytime entertainment. It is just amazing to be able to have a national icon perform with us and help raise money for a great cause”, says John.

The ‘50s Up Brass Band’ has been playing music for many years and enjoys providing entertainment for many retirement homes and senior citizens clubs, as well as staging their annual variety concert. Its talented musical director has arranged the song medleys and other special music arrangements for the show.
