Titan Events is proud to present Zakir Hussain & Masters of Percussion concert.
An international phenomenon and widely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement, Ustad Zakir Hussain will captivate and excite Auckland audiences with a wonderful musical journey.
Zakir Hussain is the favourite accompanist for many of India's greatest classical musicians and dancers. Achieving worldwide fame touring since the age of twelve, this prolific composer is highly esteemed both in the field of percussion and in the music world at large.
His contribution to world music is truly remarkable, performing and collaborating alongside artists such as George Harrison, Van Morrison, Pharoah Sanders, Billy Cobham, Rennie Harris and the Kodo Drummers of Japan.
Awarded the first-ever Grammy for Best World Music Album, his genius was also recognised in 1999 with a National Heritage Fellowship, the United States' most prestigious honour for a master in the traditional arts. In 2009 Zakir Hussain was named an Old Dominion Fellow by Princeton University and that same year was greatly heralded at four sold-out concerts at Carnegie Hall's Artist Perspective series.
Accompanied by the Masters of Percussion, this will be an exceptional performance by one of the world's most acclaimed musicians and some of the greatest percussion players.
*Service fees apply.
