The programme for this concert includes the most beloved of all Mozart's String Quintets, the sublime G Minor, played by the New Zealand String Quartet and Donald Maurice (viola) and Shostakovich's Sonata for Viola Op 147, from Gillian Ansell and Emma Sayers.
Shostakovich’s last work was the heart-wrenching sonata for viola and piano.This powerful and austere piece was completed only a month before he died, and was dedicated to the violist of the Beethoven Quartet.
The Friday Lunchtime concerts are free and open to the public.
