Dieter Flury is principal flutist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and while the orchestra are touring Australia towards the end of September Dieter, together with his chamber music partner Maria Prinz (piano) will 'cross the ditch' to present this concert and a masterclass at the New Zealand School of Music.
Praised by the press for his “soft, sensitive sound, perfect technique and his musical intelligence”, flutist Dieter Flury has been called a “flute Paganini” thanks to his “phenomenal finger and breath-technique”. Solo flutist of the Vienna Philharmonic since 1981, and the orchestra’s general manager since 2005, he enjoys a multi-faceted career as a leading soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, teacher, and orchestral leader. Mr. Flury is a Professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. He previously served on the faculty of the Vienna Music Academy and the Vienna Conservatory, and leads master classes around the world. For more information, visit www.flury.at
Dieter Flury will work with students of NZSM but the general public are welcome to attend and observe. Admission is free.
