A relaxing ten minute drive through the spectacular Poverty Bay Flats and you will arrive at the Bushmere Arms, an elegant and sophisticated location with all the charm and ambience of yesteryear and gorgeous garden setting. Bushmere Arms is the venue for an evening of 'Opera in the Garden' as part of the Gisborne Garden & Arts Festival. This Guy Fawkes night evening will feature four talented opera singers performing opera favourites to an audience enjoying the amazing formal garden setting and hamper of picnic favourites. The ticket includes individual picnic hamper and gorgeous seating cushion to make your evening as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

We will provide an entertainment evening of four performers who will perform classical opera pieces plus some selected operatic music. Performers are well-known for their time in well-known opera performances and will be sure to thrill the audience with a fantastic night of music. Performers include Evelyn Falconer, Dave McMeeking, Julia Booth and Alasdair Hay.

The Bushmere Arms venue is also amazing to visit. Robin Pierson has been proprietor of the Bushmere Arms for over 20 years and over that time has painstakingly restored the early 1900s building to its former glory. Remarkable rimu panelling complement an eclectic collection of ornamental fittings; tokens of a bygone era.

A recent addition is the extraordinary Conservatory to the rear of the building. Floor to ceiling windows, polished rimu and an art deco inspired stained glass dome, make it a truly breathtaking space.

The Garden is truly blooming and will be in top condition for the upcoming Gisborne Garden & Arts Festival. A new fountain and bell tower feature centrally in the garden amongst beautiful rose gardens, shrubs and many other plants.

Please see the website for performer profiles and more information on the venue and event.
