Professor Paul Tapsell, Chair of Maori Studies and Dean of Te Tumu, University of Otago, will give a summary of his publication 'Service after Death: The art of Maori leadership'. He will explore the customary beliefs and conscious decision-making that appears to rest behind 19th Century Maori leaders allowing themselves to be captured in portraiture.

In association with the exhibition Fiona Pardington: The Pressure of Sunlight Falling. All welcome.
