CSO Presents Last Night of the Proms

Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

How appropriate to be performing our most popular of offerings on the 5th November. Although not explosive it is guaranteed to go off with a bang when we celebrate the most British of British traditions.

It is of course the one night of the year where every possible piece of Union Jack finery can be worn and where you can let your hair down whilst patriotically singing Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory accompanied by the triumphant sounds of the orchestra.

Although the presiding presence of the Sir Henry Woods statue does not accompany the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra's version of Last Night of the Proms as it does in the Albert Hall, the array of music and experience certainly does.

The first half is a tribute to some of Britain's finest composers including Purcell, Coates and Walton. The second half is the time to let the Pomp and Circumstance really take charge.

For those who have been before you know why you need to come again and for newcomers you'll wish you hadn’t left it so long.
