The NHBA is offering members a fantastic opportunity to hear from one of the country's most in-demand speakers on leadership in New Zealand and abroad.

Dr Lester Levy is a busy man with an impressive CV. Foundation chief executive of the New Zealand Leadership Institute at the University of Auckland and professor (adjunct) at the University of Auckland Business School. Appointed chair of both the Auckland and Waitemata District Health Boards. Independent chairman of the international engineering and environmental consultancy Tonkin & Taylor.

He recently completed a term as a member of the Share Services Establishment Board that the Government created to remove duplication from amongst the 20 District Health Boards. Now that Cabinet has accepted the board's recommendations, Dr Levy has been appointed Deputy Chairman of the company that will put those recommendations into practice.

You could say he knows a thing or two about leadership. Which is why he teaches it at the University of Auckland. His classes incorporate leadership, strategy, governance and ethics, primarily at the executive level, such as for MBA students.

Himself a graduate of medicine with an MBA, Dr Levy got his formative management background at multinational companies 3M and Beecham Research Laboratories and he is best known for leading a number of organisational performance transformations, as chief executive, in both the private and public sectors.

He is frequently invited to speak on the subject of leadership in New Zealand and overseas and will be sharing his insights with NHBA members at the next Business Breakfast in October.
