Ever wondered what creatures come out at night in Hamilton City? Join bat scientist Darren Le Roux for an informal talk where you’ll learn about Hamilton’s own long-tail bat population! Children can explore the Mighty River Waikato gallery and discover what nocturnal animals live in and around the Waikato River.
Explore Hammonds Park where we’ll go bat spotting using specialised bat detectors. If you’re lucky you might even hear the bats as they come into roost in their man-made roost boxes! We will explore the board-walk and keep our eyes open to look for other nocturnal animals such as glow worms and ruru (morepork)!
Ages: 5 – adult
