This is Rachel's single gig in Westport as part of a full two month tour of New Zealand where she goes around the country collecting stories of NZ women in the 1800s, as material for a new album. Her performance is for everyone who loves folk music live and also loves stories form the old days.
Come along for an afternoon of western swing, a little alt country and some folky blues, all contained in her latest album "Ed's Bar and Grill". Admission is free!
Originally from New Zealand, Rachel Dawick is a girl who is making waves on the festival circuit in Britain having had two collaborative songs recently released with EMI (Greece) and Tennement Records (Scotland).
She has played the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and been a guest artist at many music clubs both here and in the UK. With vocal comparisons to Bessie Smith, mixed in with some Marlene Dietrich, and songs that feel as if they have been recorded in black and white, you're gonna be hearing more from this songwriter.
