Rise Up Christchurch Telethon

Rise Up Christchurch –Te Kotahitanga is a 12-hour global telethon for Christchurch beginning at 9am, on Sunday 22 May. It is to be broadcast by Maori Television from Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington, with live crosses to regional centres and global activities in London, Los Angeles and Sydney.

It will also be streamed live online throughout the world on www.riseup.org.nz and people will be able to donate securely via the internet. Donated items will be for sale and purchase on auction site www.sella.co.nz.

All funds raised go to the people of Christchurch thanks to Fonterra which as a major supporter is contributing $500,000 towards costs. The telethon is supported by a wide range of Kiwi celebrities in New Zealand and overseas, Prime Minister John Key and the Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal and the Christchurch City Council and Mayor Bob Parker. The event has been established in partnership with the Rise Up Christchurch Facebook website.

The Wellington event features a Rise Up fashion challenge with Amber Peebles and a dance challenge with Candy Lane.

Ambassadors include: Tamati Coffey, Candy Lane, Amber Peebles, Shane Cameron and special surprise guests.
