Alexander Roman, director of Reflections of The Past, will be in Wellington to do Q & A after two sessions of his film.
Reflections of The Past:
Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures painted a vivid portrait of the friendship between Juliet Hulme and Pauline Parker that culminated in the brutal murder of Pauline's mother. This documentary investigates the murder, its participants and its effect on our small country. Experts are interviewed, people from the time remember the impact of the murder on Christchurch, and legal representatives are quizzed about the trial. Motives are discussed and dismissed and evidence is re-examined.
It is a fascinating film, which delves deeply into this story that has wormed its way into the New Zealand consciousness. Coming from the outside, filmmaker Alexander Roman manages to provide a new perspective on the murder, and brings new insights to a story we thought we knew all about already.
