A series of happy events has made the New Zealand Guitar Quartet come to life with the combined forces of four of New Zealand’s finest guitarists.
With the relocation of one, and the return of another from overseas, all members of the group are now based in Wellington, and the NZGQ is ready to take flight. Its members, Owen Moriarty, Cheryl-Grice Watterson, Chris Hill and Jane Curry have garnered acclaim as soloists on concert stages around the world and in a multitude of international guitar competitions, with each member contributing their individual strengths toward an exciting, dynamic and engaging ensemble.
Repertoire for this lunchtime concert ranges from the fiery passion of Rimsky-Korsakov, the contrapuntal brilliance of Bach, the both winsome and toe tapping Celtic arrangements by Scott Tennant, to cutting edge home grown music by New Zealand composers.
