Here Thomson has produced sculptures which have been woven into subtly alluring shapes. Building on his previous constructions these works still have elements of the Kiwi icon but are not quite so easy to type cast. Employing beautiful colours and delicately woven or braided constructions, Thomson has manipulated the forms and lines as well as the surfaces of these compositions. As with his previous work he has continued to ensure these sculptures challenge the principle material from which they have been constructed – corrugated iron.
