The renowned German pianist Michael Endres will perform for the Waikanae Music Society. Acclaimed as one of the world's foremost Schubert interpreters, Endres was a winner of the International Schubert Competition in Germany and for many years was Professor of Piano at Germany's most prestigious music academies. He was also a long-time accompanist to the legendary baritone Hermann Prey and performs world-wide as a chamber musician and soloist. He is now based in New Zealand where he is Professor of Piano at the University of Canterbury.
His Waikanae recital will be given on the Waikanae Music Society's newly acquired Fazioli grand piano and will feature the music of Schubert (Four Impromptus Opus 90), Gareth Farr (Sepuluh Jari), Liszt (B minor Sonata) and three pieces by the American Romantic composer Louis Gottschalk.
