North Canterbury’s theatre scene is set to come alive in late May with a musical comedy featuring gangsters and gamblers, missionaries and showgirls.
Set in vibrant New York in the mid-20th century, Guys and Dolls is the colourful story of gambling men and the women who try to tame them - backed by one of the great musical scores in the history of American theatre.
Since its premier in 1951, Guys and Dolls has entertained audiences with its witty dialogue and classic songs such as Luck be a Lady, A Bushel and a Peck and Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat.
The cast for the North Canterbury Musical Society production has been rehearsing since before Christmas. It is being directed by Paul Johnson, with musical direction by Leanne O’Mahony and choreography by Marcella Hererra.
The three-week season of Guys and Dolls opens in the Rangiora Town Hall in late May.
Tickets go on sale at Harrington Gemtime Jewellers in Rangiora from March 28.
