The Whiskey Live 2011: The Peter Urlich Sextet + Hanna Grace

The Whiskey Live is a series of concerts presented annually by The Whiskey bar as a celebration of New Zealand Music Month each May. Featuring a broad spectrum of New Zealand musicians performing one of a kind, limited capacity shows; The Whiskey Live is fast becoming a headline attraction of New Zealand Music Month each year.

Peter Urlich has been a vibrant, paid-up member of the NZ music scene for over 30 years so it’s very appropriate he opens the Whiskey Live series of shows over NZ Music Month.

Since the halcyon days of Th' Dudes, he has always been the consummate entertainer and his latest line-up, The Peter Urlich Sextet, is a perfect vehicle for his love of great songs. The band's repertoire pays homage to many of the great 'pop singers' of their generation, starting with Sinatra, Nat Cole and Tony Bennett and moves through the decades with spirited, sultry and soulful versions of all the classic tunes that have coloured our lives since the '60s. Peter's on-stage energy, voice and style is matched by a hand-picked group of wonderful players including Peter Hale (keyboards) and Lewis McCallum (sax). Last year's performance at The Whiskey was stuff of legend - don't miss this one!

Opening for Urlich is singer/songwriter Hanna Grace who is due to release her debut album in July 2011.
