The Whiskey Live is a series of concerts presented annually by The Whiskey bar as a celebration of New Zealand Music Month each May. Featuring a broad spectrum of New Zealand musicians performing one of a kind, limited capacity shows; The Whiskey Live is fast becoming a headline attraction of New Zealand Music Month each year.

No strangers to performing together (Fly My Pretties), LA Mitchell and Barnaby Weir are billed separately but will also appear as guest performers in each other’s sets. LA Mitchell will perform with her band; expect a predominantly solo acoustic set from Weir showcasing the new sound from his recently released debut solo album ‘Tarot Card Rock’.

LA Mitchell has a growing reputation for her polished live act and the spectacular power of her voice, the soul/jazz songstress has firmly established herself in the New Zealand music scene. She opened for Stevie Wonder and Lionel Richie at their New Zealand shows, and manages to juggle her solo career with her rock-chick -alter-ego as a member of Top 10 band Dukes who recently supported Blondie and Pretenders. In 2009 she was named first songwriter in residence for Auckland University. She has performed for Bic Runga, Tim Finn, Guy Sebastian, Dane Rumble, Stan Walker, J Williams and the Urban Soul Orchestra (UK) and regularly performs with Dave Dobbyn.

L.A. Mitchell has released two self-produced albums and features on recordings by Oakley Grenell and the most recent Fly My Pretties project. She is currently collaborating with legendary dub producer Adrian Sherwood (UK), Kevin Marktrail (UK), Isaac Aesili (NZ), George Duncan (NZ) on material for her next record.

After a decade as the musical maverick leading The Black Seeds & navigating Fly My Pretties, Barnaby Weir has taken a step to the side, taking the spotlight with him to focus on the release of his debut solo album ‘Tarot Card Rock’ (Feb 2011). The album debuted at # 11 in the NZ Music Top 40 Chart receiving numerous 4 star album reviews.

Described as “twelve tracks of creamy country rock with an American Roots base” - it’s a collection of songs by a Kiwi boy, shaped by his travels, his relationships and life in Wellington. This is just Barnaby, stripped back with his own agenda, playing with a straight bat.

The line up includes: A Hori Buzz, Andrew Keoghan, Anika Moa, Annabel Fay, Avalanche City, Barnaby Weir, Bic Runga, Cairo Knife Fight, Che Fu, Clap Clap Riot, Dave Dobbyn, Dave McArtney & Friends, Don McGlashan, Dukes, F In Math, Greg Fleming & The Trains, Greg Johnson, Hello Sailor, Jan Hellriegel, Jason Kerrison featuring The Babysitters Circus, Jonny Love, LA Mitchell, Luke Thompson, Motocade, Nairobi Trio, Nathan Haines and the Dream Band, People of Paris, The Peter Urlich Sextet, Ruby Frost, The Jordan Luck Band, The Thomas Oliver Band.

Tickets are limited and go on-sale on Friday 15th April via Ticketmaster – www.ticketmaster.co.nz or phone 0800 111 999. Full show info is available at www.whiskeybars.com.
