Whiskey Live 2011: Dave McArtney & Friends + Lisa Crawley

The Whiskey Live is a series of concerts presented annually by The Whiskey bar as a celebration of New Zealand Music Month each May. Featuring a broad spectrum of New Zealand musicians performing one of a kind, limited capacity shows; The Whiskey Live is fast becoming a headline attraction of New Zealand Music Month each year.

The legendary Dave McArtney is a founding member, with Graham Brazier, of legendary Kiwi rock ensemble, Hello Sailor, he’s an ex student drop-out come rock pig come ex-sensitive new age mod/surfie/skier with a graying blonde post counter-culture lapsed Buddhist identity issue… He’s a songwriter and included in his repertoire is “Gutter Black”, the Sailor classic and theme song for hit TV series, Outrageous Fortune. And collections from the Pink Flamingos songbook of the early '80s; “Virginia”, “Infatuation”, “The Party”, and a few country covers.

This is an acoustic gig of Flamingo’s Hits and country covers, also performing material from solo albums, ‘The Catch’, and ‘Hook’. McArtney is joined on stage by friends:

- Dianne Swann (The Bads, When The Cats Away, Tim Finn),
- Dave Khan (Flammmable Tramp, Don McGlashan Band),
- Earl Robertson – (The Chills, Peter Stuyvesant Hitlist, Newton City Bombers),
- And other special guests.

Opening the evening is indie pop songstress, Lisa Crawley.
