The Whiskey Live is a series of concerts presented annually by The Whiskey bar as a celebration of New Zealand Music Month each May. Featuring a broad spectrum of New Zealand musicians performing one of a kind, limited capacity shows; The Whiskey Live is fast becoming a headline attraction of New Zealand Music Month each year.
Long time friends Che Fu and King Kapisi perform on stage together for one unforgettable night as part of The Whiskey Live 2011 series.
Che Fu, a Maori-Niuean hip hop, R&B, and reggae vocalist is one of New Zealand's most successful male vocalists. He began his music career at high school with a group of friends in forming the Low Down Dirty Blues Band, which went on to change their name to Supergroove.
Samoan artist King Kapisi a.k.a. Bill Urale was the first Polynesian hip-hop artist to receive the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll Award for Songwriter of the Year for his single Reverse Resistance in 1999.
Opening the show is Wellington funk/soul/jazz singer-songwriter Iva Lamkum.
The NZ Music Month line up includes: A Hori Buzz, Andrew Keoghan, Anika Moa, Annabel Fay, Avalanche City, Barnaby Weir, Bic Runga, Cairo Knife Fight, Che Fu, Clap Clap Riot, Dave Dobbyn, Dave McArtney & Friends, Don McGlashan, Dukes, F In Math, Greg Fleming & The Trains, Greg Johnson, Hello Sailor, Jan Hellriegel, Jason Kerrison featuring The Babysitters Circus, Jonny Love, LA Mitchell, Luke Thompson, Motocade, Nairobi Trio, Nathan Haines and the Dream Band, People of Paris, The Peter Urlich Sextet, Ruby Frost, The Jordan Luck Band, The Thomas Oliver Band.
