NZ Male Choir is an auditioned choir of 50 members from throughout NZ. The concert will include a broad range such as spiritual 'Wade in the Water' to folk song 'Li'l Lisa Jane' and the sacred 'Rheinberger Mass' accompanied by organist Jeremy Woodside. The choir will also perform "A New Sky" by Christchurch composer Philip Norman, who was commissioned by the choir to write this wonderful celebration of the history of NZ. The choir is directed by Robert Aburn, director of music at Christ's College, Christchurch. Accompanist Judy Barrett is an experienced piano teacher, choral director and repetiteur with many choirs throughout the Wanganui region.
The RNZAF Base Auckland Band and their director of music Squadron Leader Owen Clarke will be guests of the choir, opening with Rimsky Korsakov's 'Procession of the Nobles'. Popular 'Dam Buster's March' and a powerful modern brass and percussion number 'Horizons' are other highlights of their programme.
Guest organist Jeremy Woodside was appointed organ scholar at ChristChurch Cathedral and assistant music director at St Michael and All Angels Church, Christchurch.
All profits going to Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
