Rent is a rock opera with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La bohème. It tells the story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS they must learn to come to terms with loss, love and the enduring powers of love.
This is the first time this internationally acclaimed show is being performed in Wellington.
The cast and crew are entirely Wellington based, and come from Porirua to Lower Hutt and Wellington city and everywhere else in between.
Directed by Stuart James
Musical direction by Hayden Taylor
Warning: Please be aware that this show includes sexual themes, drug references and coarse language. Recommended for mature audiences.
