Glimmer of Blue - Brigid Ursula Bisley
This is a reflective piece that contemplates light, distance, horizons, happiness, emptiness, yearning, and how those things exist side by side. It was composed at Bethells Beach in 2005 and was premiered by the Waitakere City Orchestra that year.
It features vibraphone soloist Reuben Jelleyman, Year 13 Avondale College student who was awarded the George Rawiri Trophy for Most Outstanding Young Musician and the Hill/Willcock Trophy for Most Outstanding Drummer at the Port of Tauranga National Youth Jazz Band Competition held in Tauranga, 2010.
Viola Concerto - Georg Philipp Telemann
Russian violist, Igor Arefyef, is soloist in this ever-popular concerto.
Other pieces to be performed are Mozart’s great Symphony No. 39 K.543, Honegger’s Pastorale d’été and Michael Vidulich’s Two Middle Eastern Dances.
The Orchestra in all these works are conducted by Brigid Ursula Bisley.
