Vivaldi: The Four Seasons

Schubert: Symphony No. 8: Unfinished.
Described as “a phenomenon” by The Strad and “high powered soloist” by The New York Times, it is a real coup to have sensational Canadian Lara St John perform the ever-popular Four Seasons with the Sinfonia. In February 2008, Dublin hosted an historic festival devoted exclusively to Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s music, with the great man himself in attendance. This is a measure of the esteem he is held in around the world. His short work, "Festina Lente", is a beautiful introduction to the second half. Schubert’s characteristic lyricism, which seems so effortless and spontaneous, is nowhere more apparent than in this symphony.
