This concert showcases new compositions by young composer Alex Taylor, whose work explores intricate textures and claustrophobic, dissonant harmonies. The programme will include a song cycle for countertenor and ensemble – a setting of Wallace Stevens’ thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird – and two new solo works for trumpet and clarinet using poems by New Zealand experimental poet Will Christie.
