From 12 May - 31 July, this new Sir George Grey Special Collections exhibition celebrates the photography of New Zealanders Bert and Fred Tornquist and Bert's associations with the Auckland art-workers' collective, the Quoin Club.

Contrary to the established belief that neither Fred nor Bert had any formal photographic training, Fred had studied photography at Bissell College of Photo Engraving in Effingham, Illinois during the northern winter of 1918/19. Bert attended the Chicago Art Institute and can be found on the 1920 US Census living at the YMCA Hotel in Chicago.
