“Woman is sedentary, man hunts, journeys; woman is faithful (she waits), man is fickle (he sails away, he cruises).” - Roland Barthes. Fragments, A Lovers Discourse.
The basis of this investigation is an expansion and elaboration on Barthes' notions of absence and presence, waiting and going, inside and outside, moving and staying still.
If absence only exists when being missed, what does it mean to be present? This show marks a trajectory covering ideas of time, knowledge, gender and love.
