Friends Evening Art Talks: The University of Auckland's Art Collection by Linda Tyler, Director of the Centre for New Zealand Art Research and Discovery, University of Auckland.
Since 1966 the University of Auckland has been collecting art for display in its faculties and departments. The first curator of the collection was art historian Michael Dunn, appointed in 1985, who reported directly to the Vice-Chancellor.
Responsibility for the care of the collection passed to the National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries in 2005 with the formation of the Centre for New Zealand Art Research and Discovery.
Linda Taylor, the inaugural Director of the Centre, will talk to us about the collection and what the University has been buying and why.
Venue: Second Floor of the Auckland City Library, Lorne Street.
Members: $15 per talk or $40 for the series.
Student members: $10 per talk.
Non-members: $20 per talk.
To book, phone 09 307 7705 or email galleryfriends@aucklandartgallery.govt.nz
