Here's your chance to hear this dynamic young ensemble who have crafted a wonderful programme of vibrancy and virtuosity.

The Antipodes Trio bring together two of New Zealand's leading young string players, Christabel Lin and Nicholas Hancox, with one of the USA's most outstanding young cellists, David Requiro. Formed through connections between the New Zealand School of Music, Vienna Conservatory of Music and the University of Michigan, they aim to promote the under-utilised repertoire of the string trio which has contributions from many of the great composers throughout music history.

Enjoy the vibrant energy and lyricism of Hungarian composer Dohnanyi's Serenade. The five short movements encompass passion, beauty, and dark colours which lead to an explosive ending!

Douglas Lilburn, often referred to as the 'father of New Zealand composition', completed his string trio in 1945. A reviewer of the first performance wrote of Lilburn: "He savours of genius".

Beethoven's three String Trios (Op 9) were completed while the composer was living in Vienna, and were written before the composer embarked on his first string quartets.

Tickets available from The Good Life, Strand, Whakatane.
