Monday evening jewellery class. Tutor: Vaune Mason.
Learn to work in silver, copper, brass, gold and stones in a fun and supportive environment. Our tutors are professional jewellers with many years of experience and loads of creative ideas.
All levels of experience are accepted in these classes.
Beginners: produce a sterling silver ring set with the stone of your choice!
You will learn soldering, filing, sanding, texturing, hammering and stone setting techniques as well as proper tool use and care, health and safety and basic design principles.
We begin by learning how to work with copper and brass and you will make a practice ring in these metals before moving on to silver. Our gem dealer will visit us on the third class so you can purchase your stone/s directly from him with prices starting at .30 cents!
Advanced: create a silver pendant on a handmade chain and develop your own projects.
This level is for those with some experience in metalwork who are relatively confident with soldering. You will learn chainmaking as well as cold connections (riveting etc.). You will be encouraged to challenge yourself in both design and practical work and shown how to experiment with new techniques.
The next class will begin March 7th 2011.
$340 for 8 weeks includes basic materials and resources.
Book now – this class is already filling up!
