With our thoughts unequivocally with those in Christchurch, Brazilbeat Sound System prepare for a pilgrimage to Wellington this weekend.

BBSS will perform two shows in the capital:
Friday 4 March - Estadio (17-19 Blair St) 11pm, free entry
Saturday 5 March - Jim Beam Homegrown (Wellington waterfront) 5:00-6:15pm on the Amphitheatre Stage.

Since Nego Beto and DJ Mara first brought the Brazilbeat Soundsystem project down to New Zealand from the USA in 2001, the percussive, bass-heavy sound has inflamed crowds across Aotearoa.

Live conga drums and percussion mixed with bouncy riddims and deep basslines makes for a sweaty dancefloor, especially in summer! A BBSS set unfolds like a journey, from Brazilian roots and baile-funk through to drum & bass, with plenty of 4x4 stomp in between and a solid standing in reggae and soundsystem culture. BBSS are currently working on their second album.
