Two Wellington choirs join forces to perform a benefit concert for the people of Christchurch. The Tudor Consort and Sacred Heart Cathedral will perform Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem.

“We want this to serve as a contemplative ceremony to honour those who have lost their lives, as well as a way of raising funds to help our friends in Christchurch” says Music Director Michael Stewart, who will accompany the performance on the cathedral organ.

The men behind next Monday’s concert both served as organists at Christchurch’s iconic Anglican Cathedral. Organist Michael Stewart served as ChristChurch Cathedral’s Organ Scholar and later Assistant Organist from 1997-2001, while conductor Peter de Blois was the Cathedral’s Sub Organist in the early 1990s.

Entry is by koha, with all proceeds going to the Christchurch relief fund.
