The Waiheke Community Art Gallery celebrates the dynamic arts of the Pacific for the next four weeks with exhibitions by New Zealand’s foremost contemporary Pacific artists. Curated with assistance from Tautai Contemporary Pacific Arts Trust, the exhibition welcomes back to Waiheke celebrated Pacific artist Fatu Feu’u whose work in the exhibition is a mixed media wall sculpture.
Lonnie Hutchinson, recent winner of the 2011 Small Sculpture Prize will be exhibiting one of her distinctive paper cut out works, Chris Charteris a beautiful carved basalt stone, Niki Hastings McFall a work in diamond grade reflective road signage, Kay George a screen-printed textile work and Andy Leleisi’uao one of his distinctive mixed media installations.
Painting, work on paper, sculpture, mixed media and installation works have been contributed by Lily Laita, Sheyne Tuffery, Tui Hobson, Chris Van Doren and Siliga Setoga. New generation artists exhibiting include Cerisse Palalagi, (painting) Leanne Clayton (fans) Lina Marsh (embroidery) and Marlaina Key (photography).
Waiheke’s Luc Tutugoro and Loloma Andrews are also participating.
