Rachael Polson grew up in Timaru and has a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) from the Adelaide Central School of Art. Of her installation exhibition Polson states: “A fleeting moment, although ephemeral, can be profound and precious. My formally based sculptures, paintings and photographs are motivated by the idea that time can be trapped in a material. This is shown through recorded human gesture in wrappings of thread; the trace of human presence left through brush marks in paint or the sweep of a camera across a painting. I want a sense of stopping time so we can have the chance to consider each moment more carefully.”
