Student City is proud to present 1814, Ladi6 & Sons of Zion at the Student City 2011 concert. Welcoming all new students to Palmy and introducing them to the residents of our mighty fine village, this massive free event in the Square will call the curtain on Orientation Week 2011.

The concert kicks off at 2pm with local support acts then Sons of Zion will take the stage with their infectious sound, a mixture of reggae groove with melodic vocals, phat dub bass lines and heavily distorted guitar rifts.

Ladi6, who sits on the Top 40 Charts, will then show Palmy why she has worked with Fat Freddy's, Shapeshifter and Scribe. Her song Bang Bang is catchy, it's fresh, and it's great.

1814 return to Palmy after a sell out summer season, including a tour of Australia with their up beat, funky, r’n’b, roots reggae music which includes Jah Rastafairi.

Band lead Patu said, "If you love skankin, you'll love the live shows, full of energy, up beat grooves, wicked sax and sweet soulful vocals”.

And you will go a long way before you find a better bunch of guys and girls. They are the easiest and nicest band we have ever worked with. We can't wait to meet them in person!

Supporting this stellar Kiwi lineup with be Awatapu College's Spaceball Ricochet - winners of the local Rockquest competition, singer / songwriter David Shanhun and the Feilding High School Ukulele Orchestra showing why they are so popular with their range of popular songs.
