On Wednesday 30 March the Webb Ellis Cup will be in the Manawatu and we are taking it on a tour around Feilding and Palmerston North.

The NZRU have given the MRU the Cup for the day as an initiative to attract more junior rugby players to register for clubs and play this season.

MRU staff will be accompanying the Cup and giving out information to prospective players about clubs and rugby in the Manawatu.

The tour will include one intermediate school from Feilding, and two from Palmerston North, along with an opportunity for the public to view at selected locations:

0900 – 1015 Feilding Intermediate School
1030 – 1130 Feilding Square – public viewing
1200 – 1320 Ross Intermediate School, PN
1350 – 1510 Monrad Intermediate School
1600 – 1800 Palmerston North Convention Centre – public viewing

Manawatu Rugby Union CEO John Knowles said that this is a great opportunity, and indeed once in a lifetime, for the people of the Manawatu to get their photo next to the greatest trophy known to the rugby public in our own region.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to use the World Cup to attract and entice potential rugby players to sign up to play for this season, and many more in the Manawatu.”
